On October 17, 2013 our beloved, Sara Ann (Buddie) Haines, passed away peacefully in Fairfax, Virginia. She is survived by her husband, Frank Haines, of over sixty years of Springfield, Virginia and her dear brother Eric Burk Junior of Valdosta, Georgia. She is also survived by her two sons; Gary of Charlottesville, his partner Carole Ann and three children - Skylar, Adam and Ivy and Darrell of Leesburg, Virginia, his wife (and Buddies' best friend) Kimberly and their three children - Sara, Tyler and Dixie.

Sara was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on August 8, 1927 to Eric and Mary Burk. Raised and married in Atlanta, Georgia, Buddie traveled the country and world with her young kids in tow. With stops in Georgia, Texas, California, Châteauroux France, Alabama and Illinois, she settled her family in Springfield, Virginia in 1963.

Buddie always warmed the kitchen on cold mornings. She loved her family and home, walking the beaches of Sanderling, North Carolina, playing bridge and preparing meals. Buddie was the best mother, friend, bookkeeper and organizer. Many a cat have appreciated her care. Buddies' fantastic cooking warmed her family and her recipes live on. She will be missed by all who met her.

A service will be held in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
