Sarah Louise (Brannan) Zafonte, 92, of Leesburg, VA, passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on March 3, 2020.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday March 13, 2020. Family will receive visitors from 1pm – 2pm followed by a religious service starting at 2pm. The location is Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road, Leesburg VA 20176.

A private family gathering will happen after the service.

Sarah was born in Laurel, MS to Robert and Lochie Brannon on October 16, 1927.  She married Ronald Joseph Zafonte on October 14, 1961 in Garfield, NJ. She and her husband Ron lived in Vienna, VA where they raised their 3 children. Sarah worked for the Department of the Navy in various positions from 1949 until her retirement in 1987. She was a dedicated wife and mother who loved cooking, reading and traveling. She was an avid gardener and long-time member of the Stonewall Manor Garden Club. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church of Vienna, VA for over 50 years.

Sarah is preceded in death by her parents and 16 siblings.

She is survived by her loving husband Ronald J. Zafonte, daughter Melissa Ann Sanders (Jack) and two sons Mark Robert Zafonte (Stephanie) and Michael Joseph Zafonte (Robert Larson) along with numerous nieces and nephews.
