On Saturday 16, 2023, Sarah E. Hempstead, 92 of Leesburg Va passed away, at Ashleigh at Landsdowne, with family at her side. She is now in peace and in the of presence of Jesus.

She was born, July 30, 1931, in Winchester, VA, she was the daughter of Roland and Anna (Franks) Boone.  She married Robert Lee Hempstead, in Hagerstown, MD, on September 26, 1951.

Sarah is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years. Robert "Bob" Hempstead, her son Todd L. Hempstead.

Surviving along with her husband are one daughter, Pamela M. Harris and her husband Ronald of Ashburn, VA; five grandchildren; Jessica Zinn (Mike) of Timonium, MD, Matthew Hempstead (Emily) of Westminster, MD, Kathleen Houston (Ryan) of Dayton, MD, Michael Harris of Ashburn, VA, Brendan Hempstead of Leesburg, VA; and seven great grandchildren: Owen, Kendall, Lily, Isaac, Buck, Tallulah, and Leah.

Sarah lived in Winchester, until she was 20 years old. When she married Bob traveled for 22 years as a Navy wife and mother. After her husband retired from the Navy, she worked alongside her husband in two small businesses. Later she did childcare, for 4 families.

A funeral service will be held at 2PM on Tuesday September 22 at Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg, VA with Rev Mike Emerson presiding.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
