Selma Richie Hilburn of Ashburn, VA, passed away peacefully on June 30th at the age of 98. Born on December 18, 1927, in Mineral, VA, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Pearl (Harlow) Johnson. Selma spent her early years in Virginia and moved to Maryland in 1949. In 1990, she made Naples, Florida her home for several years before returning to Virginia in 2023.

In 1947, Selma married Willie S. Hilburn, Jr. Together, they lovingly raised their three children in Lewisdale, MD. She was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church in Hyattsville, MD, participating in several bowling leagues, enjoying card games with neighbors, and teaching Sunday school. In Florida, she embraced tennis and cherished her time with friends at Berkshire Lake Commons. Her greatest joy came from visits to the casino and being surrounded by her large and loving family.

Selma was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, and five siblings. She is survived by her three children: Barbara Dingwall (Ian), Ronnie Hilburn (Sheryl), and Teresa Landers (Jay), as well as nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Selma will be laid to rest at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.
