Shannon Smith, wife of local funeral director Brian Smith, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2010. She was born in Virginia on July 13, 1968 to parents Jack S. and Melba J. (Eatmon) Dodson. Shannon carried a bachelor's degree in Psychology, having graduated from West Springfield in 1986 and George Mason University in 1992. Although Shannon possessed her talent and education, and could have been a highly successful career woman; she chose to be a wife, mom and homemaker. Shannon leaves behind her husband: Brian; children: Jordan A. Smith, Madison (Maddie) C. Smith, Delaney S. Smith and Jackson (Jack) W. Smith; father: Jack S. Dodson of Fairfax, VA; brother: Travis Dodson of Dumfries, VA; and a host of other family and friends. Shannon was predeceased by her mother, Melba J. Dodson. A service will be held at the Leesburg Community Church, 835 Lee Ave. SW, Leesburg, VA on Friday, January 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.
