Loving wife and mother, Sharon (Meek) Burke, 73, of Ashburn, Virginia passed away on October 6, 2010 while at Capital Hospice of Northern Virginia.

Sharon was born on February 7, 1937 in Indianapolis, Indiana to parents Hazel (Williams) and Eugene Meek. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1954 and Franklin College in 1958. Sharon earned a Master's Degree in Library Science from Indiana University in 1964. On June 19, 1965 she and husband John were married in Franklin, Indiana.

Her career included positions with East Gary Schools and Lawrence Twp. Schools. In later years, she worked for the Loudoun Citizens for Social Justice and the Loudoun Abused Women's Shelter in Leesburg, VA.

Those she leaves behind include her husband John; daughters Elizabeth and Gabriella Burke; niece Deborah Warren and nephew Anthony Parisella. Sharon was predeceased by her parents Hazel and Eugene Meek and sister Nancy Parisella.

Family and friends are invited to a time of viewing and visitation at the Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd, NE, Leesburg, VA 20176 between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, 2010. A Funeral Mass will be held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 46833 Harry Byrd Highway, Sterling, Virginia 20164 on Monday, October 11, 2010 starting at 11:00 a.m.

A time of viewing and visitation has been set for a later time at the Flynn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St., Franklin, IN. Burial will be at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
