Stephen J. Comber Dec 25, 1957 – Oct 13, 2017

On Oct 13, 2017, Jesus called his son Stephen J. Comber home to be with him in Heaven. Steve is survived by his loving daughters Dana Comber and Jennifer Hansen, as well as her husband Chris Hansen. Steve excelled in every job he had, but all pale in comparison to being Dad. From him, his girls learned that with faith and hard work, all things were possible. Steve was strength personified and his daughters could not be prouder of his fight.

Steve was born on Dec 25, 1957 in Biloxi, Mississippi – son of Cornelius J. Comber and Florence E. Comber – who greeted him at Heaven's door. He had one sister Suzanne, and two brothers – Bill and Rob. Steve proudly graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1983. Go Hokies!

Steve resided in Haymarket, VA and served for two years as senior vice president and general manager of ManTech Health & FedCiv. He previously worked at Leidos (formerly SAIC, Inc.) for 29 years, where he ultimately held the position as president of Leidos Health. Steve was a 30-year veteran in the government services industry, commanding respect from customers, competition and all those associated with him. His devotion to soldiers and veterans drove unparalleled success in his business life. Steve was a consummate leader and mentor throughout his career.

Steve loved his family and our Lord deeply. He enjoyed red wine, long runs, time at the lake, and cheering on his Hokies. He always made certain his family was cared for and his guiding hand and loving soul will remain with us forever.

Mass of the Resurrection for Stephen Comber will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, Oct 20, 2017 at St Theresa Catholic Church, 21371 St Theresa Lane, Ashburn, VA 20147, celebrated by Fr. Jordan Willard. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, Oct 19, 2017 at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road NE, Leesburg, Virginia 20176. Burial to follow the service in Union Cemetery, 323 North King Street, Leesburg, Virginia 20175. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in his name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The Children's INN at NIH.
