Col. Stephen Luster (Retired) 72, of Lansdowne, VA lost his courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma on October 13, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Susan Luster of Lansdowne, VA, daughters Mara Johnson of Herndon, VA, Ellen Pace (husband Ron) of Broadlands, VA, and Robin Hayes (husband Mark) of Ashburn, VA, grandchildren Devin (wife Nicky), Alexa, McKinna, Lauren, Jena, Allison and GREAT grandson Darrius. Steve was preceded in death by his parents Abraham and Esther Luster and his sister Joanne Eisler. A graveside service will be held in Arlington National Cemetery January 19, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with full military honors.
Steve was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelors degree in Accounting. He then went on to Boston University to receive his Masters degree in Education. He joined the US Army in 1961 and had a rewarding 27 year career that took him and his family around the world.
The family would like to thank Dr. Rajendra and his Oncology team and Dr. Nagel and his team at Lansdowne Hospital for the wonderful care and support they provided Steve and the family during his treatment. The extended treatment he received at the Arkansas Cancer Research Center enabled him to fight his battle for nine years.
Steve was loved by so many for his sense of humor, his zest for adventure and his courage but most of all for the love he had for his family. The grandkids will miss the "ANSWER MAN'S" incredible ability to have ALL of the answers to EVERYTHING!!!!!
The family will receive friends on October 14 and 16, 2010 from 7-9 pm at the Leisure World Potomac Ridge Building in Lansdowne, VA.
