In Loving Memory of Steven Vincent Duggan
With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to a remarkable soul, Steven Vincent Duggan, who
brought immeasurable joy and warmth into the lives of those fortunate enough to know
him. Born on November 11, 1946, in Richfield, Utah, Steve left this world on November
13, 2023, in Arlington, VA, at the age of 77.
Steve is survived by his wife of 22 years, Sue Reilly, and leaves behind a legacy of love
through his five sons: Steven M. Duggan (Laura Ayers), David M. Duggan (Caterina
Romano), Kenneth A. Duggan (Courtney Jones), Jeff F. Kircher (Heather Lutz), and Jay F.
Kircher (Linnea Eaton). His memory will be cherished by his 17 grandchildren, as well as
his three brothers and two sisters (Diana Gualdoni, Mary Savinar, Ed Duggan, Tim
Duggan and Chris Duggan) and their families. Steve was preceded in death by his
parents, John and Lorraine Duggan, and his brother Robert Duggan.
Steve's journey included attending VPI&SU in Engineering and Business, paving the way
for a distinguished career in telecommunications as an IT Engineer. A Vietnam-era
veteran who served four years in the U.S. Army Security Agency. Steve deployed to
Sinop, Turkey.
Beyond his professional achievements, Steve was a devoted family man. He relished
coaching his children in extracurricular sporting activities and attended his
grandchildren's events with unwavering enthusiasm. Partnered with his best friend Sue,
Steve was an avid environmentalist through his love and protection of nature as well as
his commitment and activism to social and political justice.
Steve welcomed everyone into his life with open arms. His infectious joy and
memorable dance moves brought happiness to countless gatherings. Steve's pride in
his family, especially his grandchildren, was evident. His heart had room to tuck them all
into their own special place. He was wonderful and blessed because of what each child
and grandchild added to his life.
Steve's life will be celebrated on Saturday, November 25th, during an open house at
Steve and Sue's home from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family
kindly requests donations in Steve's name to
Doctors Without Borders
, an organization
that reflects his commitment to making the world a better place.
A private burial
ceremony will take place earlier in the week.
May his memory be a source of comfort, and as he wished, let us all have a blessed and
peaceful day.
