Steven W. Sill, age 59, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026.
Born on October 5, 1966, in Washington, D.C., Steven was the beloved son of the late Regina Anne Sill and Elvin W. Sill Jr.
Steven was a highly educated and accomplished professional. He earned his degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Indiana and later completed his MBA at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He devoted 37 years of honorable service to the U.S. Department of Transportation, where he was respected for his integrity, intelligence, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to excellence in public service. His work left a meaningful and lasting impact throughout his distinguished career.
Above all, Steven was a devoted husband, family member, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Giovanna “Gigi” Rosado-Sill, and by his sister, Rebecca, and her family. He deeply valued his family and friends and maintained lifelong relationships rooted in loyalty, respect, and love. He is also lovingly remembered by his in-laws, who held him in great affection.
Steven will be remembered not only for his accomplishments, but for his sharp sense of humor and quick wit, which could lighten any moment and bring laughter when it was most needed. Beneath that humor was a genuine innocence of heart—kind, sincere, and deeply caring. He had a rare ability to see the good in others and to meet life with both intelligence and gentleness.
He had a lifelong passion for transportation in all its forms, including automobiles, trains, and aviation. He was a licensed pilot and especially enjoyed flying small aircraft. His curiosity, intellect, and enthusiasm for learning were defining traits throughout his life.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, generosity of spirit, strong moral character, and the kindness he extended to all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Steven’s honor to Lab Rescue LRCP, in recognition of his deep love for Labrador Retrievers and appreciation for their loyal companionship.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 2:00 PM at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Leesburg with interment in the parish cemetery to immediately follow.
