Thea Scheuerman Barry, 4, passed away peacefully at home in Leesburg, Virginia on August 17th, 2023, in the arms of her mother and father. She left behind a tired and broken body to soar high amongst the angels, free of all her earthly hardships.

Thea was born on September 28th, 2018 in Leesburg, Virginia. She was the first child for her mother and father, followed by two younger brothers, Tris, 3, and Dashel, 6 months.

Thea was pure joy. She was known for her infectious laugh and effervescent smile. She met every challenge life threw at her with strength, bravery, resilience, and her signature grin. She loved her puppies, the tinkling sound of bells, crazy noises her daddy made, and her brothers most of all.

Thea lived with Angelman Syndrome, impacting all areas of her life. In December 2021, at the age of 3, Thea suffered a catastrophic brain injury of unknown origin, robbing her of all her hard-fought growth and development. She blessed her family and friends with 20 subsequent months of bonus time, never losing her smile along the way.

Thea was adored by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Tris and Delaney, Thea is survived by her brothers, Tris and Dashel; her two Boston Terriers, Odin and Dizzy; grandparents, Tris and Penny; grandparents, Donald and Stacy; uncle James; aunt Carson; godmother Catherine, uncle John, cousins Lia and Isabella; and many more loving aunts, uncles, and relatives.

We are so grateful to the team of medical professionals who have walked this journey with us, most especially Thea's beloved pediatrician, Dr. Maura Carroll, and Thea's home nurses Chy Chy and Elsie.

It is impossible to express our immense gratitude to the village of people who have supported our family throughout Thea's life and the numerous challenges she faced. Your love, prayers, food, and support have carried us through many difficult times. It is a comfort to know your presence surrounds us now.

A private funeral service will be held at St. John the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Leesburg, VA. All who loved Thea are invited to join in her celebration of life at the Barry family home, in Leesburg, VA—details to follow.
