Theresa "Poppy" Foley was born June 1, 1931 in Belfast, Ireland to Frederick Carl Peterson and Mabel Mary McCready. She grew up in England and came to the United States in 1962, where she met her husband, Paul Joseph Foley. While in the U.S., she worked in the office of Congressman Don Edwards of San Jose, CA. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Lisa Clippinger (Michael), her grandchildren, Thomas, Katherine, Lauren and Grace, step grandchildren, Paul and Shannon, her siblings, Frances, Michael and Anne, and her step children, Greg, Sharon and Rex.

Family will receive friends between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Galilee United Methodist Church, 45425 Winding Road, Sterling, Virginia 20165 where Funeral Services will immediately follow starting at 3:00 pm. A Graveside Service will take place on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Fairfax Memorial Park, 9900 Braddock Rd, Fairfax, VA 22032 starting at 11:00 am.
