Obituary

Theresa Frances LaBarbera Boone passed away peacefully at the age of 101 on July 27, 2022, after a long illness.

Theresa was born on July 7, 1921, in New Orleans, Louisiana. to Vincent P LaBarbera and Lillian Frances (nee Bologna) LaBarbera.  After graduating from Ursaline Academy she worked for the Navy where she met the love of her life Edgar W Boone.  They married on May 8, 1950, at St. Matthews Cathedral in Washington DC.  Ed was in the Navy, and together they served tours of duty in Oslo, Norway, Bethesda, Maryland, Naples, Italy, and Norfolk, Virginia.  They were married for 51 years.  After Ed retired from the US Navy, they stayed busy raising their 5 children, traveling, doting on their grandchildren, and playing competitive Bridge.   Both Ed & Theresa achieved the coveted Life Master status in Bridge. Theresa was a fantastic mother and grandmother, beloved by all who knew her. She had a deep devotion and faith in God, and daily prayer was her anchor.  She was a great cook and her squash casserole, lasagna, & veal cutlets are legendary.

Theresa was predeceased by her husband Ed (May 24, 2001), her brother Vincent LaBarbera and sister Josephine LaBarbera Trahan.

Theresa is survived by her children, Bonnie Boone (Port St. Lucie, FL), Dan Boone (Port St Lucie, FL), Laurie Logan (Tom - Ashburn, VA), John Boone (Waterford, VA) and Joe Boone (Kim -Fairfax Virginia); 10 grandchildren:  Rachel Reichardt, Travis Boone, Theresa Taplin, Kristin May, Melanie Berkey, Joe Logan, JT Logan, Grace Logan, Nate Boone and Sam Boone; 10 great grandchildren:  Matthew Reichardt, Christopher Reichardt, Joshua Reichardt, Blake Peterson, Caryl-Anne Taplin, William Taplin, Brianna Boone, Hannah Boone, Danny Finan, Liam May and 2 step-great grandchildren Logan May and Lucas May; and 6 great great grandchildren:  Josette Reichardt,  Kynsly Jingles, Kyly Jingles, Liam Taplin, Mason Becker and Maizie Becker, and Theresa Rose Reichardt.  Theresa is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be a Family Mass of Remembrance at Christ the Redeemer Catholic  Church on Monday, August 22 nd .  Theresa will be buried next to her husband Ed at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Theresa's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
