Dr. Thomas Richard MacMillan, 77, went to be with the Lord, on October 17, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by family.

Born in Atlanta, GA to Thomas Richard MacMillan of TN, and Lucille Lewis MacMillan of WV.  He is survived by his wife Lynette, their son Alex, his sister Kay MacMillan of Las Vegas, NV., his brother Bob MacMillan of Atlanta, GA.

Richard was a 1966 graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, earner a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics.  A 1988 graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, earning a Doctor of Science Degree.  He worked for McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, MO. until March of 1990, when he moved his family to Leesburg, VA.  He became an employee of the Mitre Corporation, in McLean, VA., as a research scientist until his retirement.

Funeral service and burial will be held in West Union, West Virginia.  In lieu of flowers the family is requesting contributions to the Cancer Society.
