Thomas Edward McCarrick, (Tom, Snake)
Born September 27, 1927 in Oceania, Virginia. Married to Mary Jo Via on December 26, 1956 in Waynesboro Virginia. Died September 23, 2016 in Leesburg Virginia.
He was the son of William Edward McCarrick and Julia Mary Hogan and brother to Eva, Rose Mary and William. He was a loving father and grandfather, always quick to provide guidance and humor. He is survived by; his son Todd Edward McCarrick and his wife Jeannine and their children, Joanna Rae, Thomas Jules, Olivia Siobhan, and Dillon Edward; his daughter Cherilynne Lease and husband Michael and their daughter Kaitlyn Ariel; his youngest son Glenn Shannon McCarrick, Esq.
He grew up in Staunton Virginia and served in the U.S. Navy after high school. He went on to earn a Masters degree in Education from the University of Virginia. He was a dedicated teacher all his life and pursued his profession in various locations including New Jersey but primarily in Montgomery County Maryland. He also served as a coach for many teams in various sports. In addition, he served as his family's plumber, landscaper, contactor, electrician and painter.
He was a loyal and dedicated Catholic and supported many charities. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Smile Train.
He especially enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren in all of their sports and activities. He was a fan of the Washington Redskins and enjoyed sports of all kinds. He loved to swim and served as a lifeguard. He enjoyed crabbing and hosted numerous crab feasts for his many friends. He loved to ski, golf, camp, and travel with his family and friends.
He will always be remembered for his outgoing personality, generosity and most notably his unending sense of humor. He touched many lives and is fondly remembered by many friends. He will always be loved, missed, and honored by his wife, children and grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm with a prayer service beginning at 5:00pm at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd, Leesburg, VA 20176.
