IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas Allen
Titus
November 20, 1941 – April 16, 2017
Thomas Allen Titus was a lifelong Virginian, born in Leesburg to Ed and Elizabeth Titus on November 20, 1941. He made his earthly home in Gainesville, Virginia, but moved to his heavenly home on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017. Tom shared his life with his wife Shelby (Farley) for 55 years, and together they were blessed with three daughters, Jenny, Julie, and Carrie. Three sons-in-law and six grandchildren were added to the blessings Tom counted. Their beloved Papa was always happy to snuggle, share popcorn, or go fishing.
After serving in the United States Air Force, Tom worked thirty-seven years for the Giant Food Company, retiring as a District Manager after impacting many by his example of a strong work ethic, integrity in leadership, and consistent generosity. Tom modeled these qualities for his children and grandchildren, known by strangers and neighbors as a man with a willing heart to help. He extended a heritage of faith as a gift to many.
An avid outdoorsman, friends and family knew him as a hunter and fisherman, well acquainted with the hills and streams of Virginia. Summer memories were made on family trips to the beach at Nags Head and St. George, where Tom loved to walk in search of shells. He had a knack for finding treasure, coming across lost coins wherever he was.
The greatest treasure he ever found, received, and shared was the precious truth of knowing that, "where sin abounded, grace abounded much more," (Romans 5:20). In January of 1971 Tom made a decision to become a Christian, determining the course of his future. Tom and Shelby have been involved in their local church, where Tom enjoyed serving, taking part in leadership, and studying the Bible. For the last several years, they have called Centreville Baptist home, where they've enjoyed the fellowship of friends.
