Obituary

The world has lost a wonderful father, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and soon to be a granddaddy. Timothy "Timmy" Lee Owens, 55, of Leesburg, Virginia passed away suddenly on July 1st, 2020.  Beloved son of the late Billy Owens and Ettie Payne Fox and step-son of Wayne Fox.  Timmy spent the majority of his life residing in Leesburg, Virginia where he was well known for his level of expertise as an Automotive Technician.  He was a die-hard New York Yankee and Washington Redskin fan.  He enjoyed golfing, softball, bowling, car shows, playing drums, singing karaoke, playing Golden Tee Golf with his buddies at his favorite "watering hole", and spending as much time as possible with his pride and joys, his three beautiful daughters.
Timmy was a self-proclaimed "Ladies Man" coining the phrase, "I'm not conceited, I'm confident", a teller of inappropriate, yet ironically funny, jokes, one who always loved to give the impression to anyone who would listen that he wasn't just a mere automotive technician but a once-famous baseball player or well-known singer in a popular band!  Timmy wrote his own rules and paved his own way.  If you said he couldn't do it, he would make sure he could and did and usually would more than once!  He lived 1000 years in his short 55 calendar years grabbing life by the lapels and swinging it back on the dance floor while singing the tune "Mustang Sally".  With his signature look of a t-shirt or jersey, jeans, and a Yankee or Redskin hat, he was always up for whatever challenges life threw his way.
If you asked Timmy, his greatest accomplishment wasn't his vast knowledge of automobiles or his various musical talents, it was being a Dad.  Timmy became a father later in life but fatherhood was a life long dream of his and it was love at first sight with the birth of each of his three daughters.
Timmy is survived by the loves of his life, his three daughters, Ettie Mckenzie Owens, Amber Jo Owens, and Demi Grace Owens, ex-wife Amy Owens, sisters Shelby Johnston and Cheryl Owens, step-brother Stephen Fox, nieces Briana Owens and Janell Holmes, and countless extended family members and friends.  He, unfortunately, passed before the soon to be birth of his first grandchild, grandson, Kyran Lee Sims.  Timmy was preceded in death by his brother Billy Owens.
Timmy loved life and loved to share stories of his youth, family, friends, and adventures through life.  Just as Timmy did, keep telling stories.  It is the stories that connect us and unite us.  It is through our stories that we can change the world!
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15th, 2020 from 10 am-11 am with the funeral directly following at 11 am.  In lieu of sending flowers, the family graciously requests donations in his name to Colonial Funeral Home to assist with funeral-related expense
