Obituary

Vernon Louis Fay finished his time here on earth and entered eternity on Saturday morning September 13, 2014 at approximately 5:30 am. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 25, 1930; son of Myles and Anna Fay.

He is survived by his daughter Valerie and her husband Daniel Henry with their children Jasmine, Lauren and Shaun, his son Rick and his wife Guadalupe Fay, and longtime spouse Judy Fay.

Vernon served four years in the US Air Force as a medic during the Korean War era of 1950-1954. He attended Duquesne University from 1955 through 1959 (during the time when Duquesne was a National Basketball Champion), graduating with a BS in Business Administration in 1959. He then embarked upon a lengthy career in law enforcement. From roughly 1960 till his first retirement in 1981 he worked as a Special Agent Accountant with the Internal Revenue Service. He then continued his career in law enforcement as a Special Agent Investigator with the Virginia State Police, till his second retirement in 1999. Since 2009 Vernon had lived in Meadow Glen Assisted Living, where the staff and other residents showed him great love, despite some of the challenges caused by his having Alzheimer's.

Vernon was raised and trained in the Roman Catholic religious tradition, yet really loved listening to Lon Solomon sermons (Pastor of McLean Bible Church) on the rides he took with his son. When asked if he believed and trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior he would unashamedly say yes.

Family will receive friends between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg, VA 20176.
