Viola Meeks Chitty, 88 of Ashburn, Virginia passed away peacefully with her son, daughter and son in law by her side on July 8, 2019.

Viola was born on May 15 ^, 1931, in Pitt County, North Carolina to Thurman Eugene Meeks and Kathleen Dixon Meeks. In 1940, her family relocated to the Norview area of Norfolk, Virginia. At the age of 16, she met the love of her life, Edward Marshall Chitty. Viola graduated from Norview Highschool in 1948. On May 22, 1951 she wed and remained happily married to Ed until his death on January 18, 2016.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward. Her parents and siblings; Arley Eugene Meeks and Faye Weisberg. She is survived by her brother, Donald Ray Meeks of Virginia Beach; her son, Edward Marshall Chitty II of Hampton. Her daughter, Mary Kaye "Kaycee" Childress and her husband Nick Campbell of Ashburn, VA; grandchildren, Joshua Chitty, Audrey Chitty Cole, Calaway Childress, Cameron Childress, Ian Campbell, Colin Campbell and Savannah Campbell; and great grandson, Chase Cole.

Services and a celebration of her life will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, August 24 at First Presbyterian Church of Hampton.
