Vivastine Seward was born on April 13, 1935, to Ezra Wright and Annie Cross, in Eads Town, Memphis County, Tennessee. She came into the world with the hands of renowned Memphis midwife, Hattie Bingham and passed in the loving care of her daughter Valerie Konur at 10:46 am on May 11, 2025. Vivastine graduated from Lake Shore High school in St. Clair Shores Michigan having excelled in her English studies. At the age of 22, she married Herbert Seward on June 1st, 1957, in Macomb County, Michigan. Throughout her life, she was a devoted servant of the Lord, engaging in several ministries as a dedicated member of the Morning Star Baptist Church and its gospel choir. Vivastine was known for her passion for bowling and her love of cooking for family gatherings.
Vivastine was the second youngest of eleven children. Left to cherish her memory are her sister Nellie, her daughters Wilma and Valerie, and her son Steven; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, in addition to many beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins who will always remember her with love and hold her memories close to their hearts.
In her final moments, Vivastine passed away peacefully, experiencing a natural and dignified death to LIFE, with the joy of her being gloriously whole in heaven. Remembered for her vibrant life centered on family, grounded in faith, and joy, she was blessed to have celebrated 90 remarkable years and leaves a legacy filled with love and cherished memories. Her unwavering commitment to a life of faith is encapsulated in the following verse: "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert Seward; her son, Michael H. Seward, Jr.; her brothers, Homer, Ezra, Tyre, James, Jimmy, and Granville; and her sisters, Atwood, Ozella, Willie Mae, and Juanita.
The Celebration of Life service to honor the life of Vivastine Seward will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg, located at 201 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg, VA 20176.
Family Time will take place at 11:30 a.m.
Friends and Family Viewing at 12:00 p.m.
Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m.

Vivastine will be laid to rest on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, in Clinton Township, Michigan, where she will be placed next to her husband, Herbert Seward. In remembrance of Vivastine Seward's life, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, a charitable donation be made to one of the following: Inova Health Foundation, National Kidney Foundation or American Heart Association.
