Obituary

Vivian Morfogen Geaneas, loved dearly by so many, passed away on September 10, 2024, after a short illness in Leesburg, Virginia. She was 98 years old. Vivian was born on July 23, 1926 in New York City to Paul and Anna Morfogen. She spent her childhood years in Manhattan and Boonton, New Jersey.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of forty years, Zachary Paul Geaneas and her son Paul Zachary Geaneas and her brothers, George Morfogen and Zachary Morfogen and sister in laws Georgia and Marilyn.

Vivian attended Julliard School of Music where she studied voice and piano. She married Zachary in 1947. He was a career diplomat and they traveled the world together for forty years. They represented the United States in Lahore, Pakistan, Tunis, Tunisia, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Athens, Greece. In her role as a diplomat's wife, she excelled in entertaining many dignitaries and politicians. Vivian's many other interests included reading, cooking, cards, and spending time with her friends.

What she enjoyed most of all was being with her six grandchildren and all her great grandchildren, who affectionately called her Grandma Sunshine. Vivian will be remembered for her kind, gentle and loving ways. She made an impact on everyone she met and will be missed by so many.

She is survived by her daughter and son in law Fay Lynne and Patrick Manturi, daughter in law Cindy Geaneas, her grandchildren, Michael Geaneas, Christopher and Katie Geaneas, Lauren and Niko Eckhart, Justin Manturi, Matthew and Lauren Manturi, and Patrick James Manturi, as well as thirteen great grand-children and many nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends are invited to pay their respects at 12pm, followed by a celebration of life service at 1pm. This will take place at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg (201 Edwards Ferry Road NE, Leesburg, VA 20176)
