Ennis, Iii
April 15, 1946 – November 12, 2018
Wallace E. Ennis, III died peacefully at Inova Loudoun Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on November 12, 2018, in Leesburg, VA, at the age of 72. The family would like to thank the caring nursing and therapy staff there, particularly Mimi and Rose, as well as the staff of Capital Caring, who has provided (and continues to provide) hospice services.
Wally is survived by his wife, Caroline Proper Ennis (of Sterling, VA) and daughter Karen Ennis Johnson (of Fairfax, VA), Karen's spouse Jody, and brothers Tim Ennis (of Hanover, VA) and Steve Ennis (of Glen Allen, VA).
Wally was born on April 15, 1946 in Richmond, VA, to Wallace Ennis, Jr. and Elsie Lee (Waymack) Ennis. Wally graduated from James Marshall High School in 1964, and attended the University of Virginia for a year thereafter. He married the love of his life, Caroline Proper, August 10, 1974.
Wally enjoyed woodworking, computers, theater, gardening, and spoiling his beloved dogs. After college, he served in the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam War. He then went on to careers in theatrical stage lighting (his true love), and engineering for the telephone company (which paid the bills, but he enjoyed for the technological aspects). He frequently volunteered for Saint James Episcopal Church in Leesburg, VA, especially with their sound equipment.
A funeral is scheduled for December 1, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Saint James Episcopal Church in Leesburg, VA, with a reception to follow in the church's Fellowship Hall. The Rev. Kate Bryant, Senior Associate Rector of St. James' Episcopal Church will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Wally's life.
