On Sunday, January 22, 2012, Walter "Buzzy" Curtis Whiting slipped away peacefully while residing at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Leesburg, Virginia with his family at his side.
Walter was born on April 28, 1947 in Ashburn, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Richard Whiting and Lillian Frances Bowles Whiting; his two brothers, Charles Richard Whiting and James Roy Whiting; and two nephews Bernard Whiting and Donald Whiting.
Walter attended the Loudoun County Public School System. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, listening to music and dancing. He was well known for his impeccable style and taste in clothes. He loved his old western movies and TV shows, except for "paladin" and "Cheyenne", he was Jock Whiting's son after all. Walter was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Leesburg, VA.
Walter is survived by his wife Beverly of Leesburg, VA; her two children Pam and Tyrone, and her grandson Joshua of Los Angeles, CA. He also leaves two devoted daughters; Tonya Bell of Charles Town, WV and Veniece Fox of Berryville, VA; four grandchildren Tyra, Lisa, Christopher and Cory; six sisters, Bernice Murray of Leesburg, VA, Cora Gaiter (Curtis) of Temple Hills, MD, Laura Randolph (Reginald) of Leesburg, VA,, Ruth French (Gerald) of VA Beach, VA, Marti Pearson of Sterling, VA and Mildred Timbers (Charles) of Leesburg, VA; two brother, Eugene Whiting (Doris) and Thomas Whiting (Barbara) both of Leesburg, VA; one aunt Laura Mallory, one uncle Daniel Bowles, a special cousin Ms. Betty Thornton all of Washington, DC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family and friends of Walter Whiting are invited to share their memories at the Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg, VA 20176 on Friday, January 27, 2012 between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. with the service starting at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion Community Cemetery in Leesburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorial donations be made out to Heritage Hall Nursing and Rehab, 122 Morven Park Rd. NW,
Leesburg, VA 20176 or the American Cancer Society, Nationsl Capital region, 124 P)ark Street, SE, Vienna, VA 22180.
