Obituary

Wayne C. Bevan , 87 of Lovettsville, VA passed peacefully on August 28, 2021. Wayne was born in 1934 in Irwin, PA, to the late David and Mary Bevan. He was a graduate of East McKeesport High School in Pennsylvania. After high school he proudly enlisted and served in the United States Marine Corps. After receiving an honorable discharge, he began a career in air traffic control.

Wayne married his high school sweetheart, Charlene ("Char") and celebrated 61 years of marriage - Char departed his earthly life in 2016. Wayne was also preceded in death by a brother, David; sister MaryAnne; son, Garry and a grandson, Shaun.

Wayne is survived by his siblings, Betty Turner and Bruce Bevan. Wayne's children: Sheila (Tony) Lynn; Rick (Gwen) Bevan; Debra Jenkins; Sandy (Mark) Coffey. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, TJ, Denise, Shannon, Paul, Nathan, Truman and Matthew; nine great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.

After completing his service in the Marine Corps, Wayne, aka Rocky, was employed with the Federal Aviation Administration spending most of his 35-year career at Washington Air Route Traffic Control Center, Leesburg, VA.

Wayne was involved in numerous public service organizations throughout his life. He was a member of the Olive Branch Masonic Lodge #114, B.P.O. Elks #684, Moose Lodge #1041, Izaak Walton League, Lucketts Ruritan, Election Officer Lovettsville Polling Precinct, Loudoun Beekeepers Association, a volunteer Firefighter with Co. 1 - Leesburg Volunteer Fire Company and many more.

Wayne enjoyed exploring and camping all over the United States and parts of Canada with his wife, family and very special longtime friends. Wayne took delight in supporting his children and grandchildren in all of their various interest and sporting events. He also was an avid Steelers, Redskins, Pirates, and Nationals fan. He also followed Nascar where to quote him "my guy always came in first".

Wayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He was a man you could count on when you needed help and he never turned away from lending a helping hand wherever he saw a need. Wayne was one of a kind that greeted all with a stern handshake and warm smile. Wayne will surely be missed.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 10 am; with a service to follow at 11 am at the Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg VA.
