Obituary

Many awake today remembering the kindnesses and generosity of a wonderful man. William "Frank" Cunningham, loving and devoted husband to Eva Cunningham, passed away on May 13, 2010 while a patient in the Leewood Nursing and Healthcare Facility. Frank was 80 years of age at the time of his passing.

Parents John T. and Nora (Mercer) Cunningham were blessed with their son, "Frank" (as he was soon nicknamed) on February 8, 1930. He was born and, along with his siblings, raised in Bristol, Virginia. Frank grew to be a man any parent would be proud to call 'son'. At sixteen, he started what would be his future career as a printer at King Printing Company. He later moved to Rogersville, Tennessee acquiring and operating the East Tennessee Printing Company; where he worked alongside his wife, Eva, until his retirement in 1995. Upon retirement he and his loving wife and companion, Eva, moved to Leesburg, Virginia to be closer to his children Steve and Cindy. A generally nice person, Frank soon made many close friends. When first meeting him, one was shown a quite-natured person. Upon knowing him, one came to know his fun loving side and his great sense of humor. But they also quickly learned of his genuine love and affection for his wife, children and grandchildren.

Although their Dad and Paw Paw will be dearly missed his memories will continue to live on in the lives of his children and their families: daughter Cindy Cunningham Shephard and her husband John of McLean, Virginia and children Jason and Randy; and son Steve Cunningham and his wife Carol of Leesburg, Virginia and children Darren and wife Tiffany, Alex and Sean. His wife, Eva, preceded him in death in 2007.

All are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd. NE, Leesburg, VA 20176 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. A service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend James Woodward officiating. Pallbearers assisting will be Jimmy Vogel, Len Schrade, Kenny Peebles, Ric Knight, Bill Hill and Jay Moseley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Miller and Larry Taylor. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Leesburg, VA.
