Bill Emley has led a wonderful and varied life filled with service to our country and to our Church. He graduated St. Peter's Preparatory in Jersey City, New Jersey and West Point Military Academy, class of 1954. He joined the Air Force, where he flew F-86's in Massachusetts and Morocco.

Bill and Audrey were married in 1957 and for the next fourteen years had six children and started to see the Air Force world. After a tour in Morocco, he received a masters Aeronautical Engineering from Oklahoma State University. He taught for five years at all levels of Math at the Air Force Academy. The next tour was at Vandenberg AFB, CA. where he headed up the spy missile program. In 1969, Bill and the family came east to Maryland to serve at the Pentagon until retiring in 1975. Bill enjoyed teaching math at the college level, so he took a position at Charles County Community College. University of Maryland granted him a PhD in Philosophy for Math Education in 1987. St. Ignatius Chapel Point in Port Tobacco, MD was where Bill received the call to be a deacon in 1992. In 1999, Audrey, Bill and Billy moved off our hill in Port Tobacco to Leisure World, VA. It was in Leisure World, where the theatre productions, golf and volunteering in the Deacon program made living at Leisure World most enjoyable.

A brother, Warren, and a sister, Madalyn, have predeceased Bill as well as three children, Julie, Michael and Suzanne. Bill is survived by wife Audrey and his children, Billy Emley, Meg Melnik and Eddie Emley. Also, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren have all enjoyed life with Bill.

A Mass is scheduled for Monday January 5, 2015 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 8855 Chapel Point Rd, Port Tobacco, MD 20677 at 11am. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
