Wirt McClean Chaney passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 at his home in Asburn, VA. He was 82 years old.

Wirt was the loving husband of Mary Anne, father of Katharyne, Michael, Maryanne and David, brother of John Chaney and grandfather of nine grandchildren.

He graduated from Harpur College, State University of Binghamton, 1956 and completed graduate courses at Syracuse University and City College of New York City.

Wirt worked in medical equipment sales for Castle Sybron for several years in Rochester, NY, where he also raised his family.

For ten years after retirement, Wirt was a ski instructor at Whitetail Ski Resort and ushered at Wolf Trap.

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:30 am on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Saint John the Apostle Catholic Church, Leesburg, Virginia.  Burial to follow in St. John Cemetery.
