Donna S. Gaunay passed away at Loudoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Leesburg, VA, peacefully surrounded by her family on July 15, 2024.

Donna was born July 9, 1949, in Brooklyn, NY to William P. and Charlene P. Dix.  She graduated from Springbrook High School in Silver Spring, MD.  She went on to attend Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, VA where she met her future husband and was married while in college.  They later divorced.  Donna spent most of her adult life in Schenectady, NY.  Her career was as a legal secretary for several different law groups.  After retirement, she enjoyed watching Hallmark movies.

Donna was a lover of cats and had many throughout her life.  Later, she became a lover of dogs.  She also loved her church, the Niskayuna Reformed Church, and all her longtime friends and neighbors.  She greatly enjoyed helping with the church fellowship coffee hours and their annual flea market.

Donna was predeceased by her parents and grandparents.  She is loved and will be missed by her sister, Belinda Mueller (Bill) of Winfield, KS, her brother Bill Dix (Sharon) of Leesburg, VA, nephew Kris Dix (Rebecca) of Beaverton, OR, and niece Kim Pasquarello (Frank) of Sterling, VA, and their daughters Charlotte and Lucy.

No services are planned at this time.  A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.  Due to her love of cats and dogs, memorials can be sent to the animal shelter of your choice.
