Amanda Lumpkin
Funeral Director
From a young age, Amanda felt a deep calling to support others through loss. After experiencing the deaths of all four grandparents before the age of ten, she grew up attending funerals and developed a unique comfort with grief and mourning. These early experiences shaped her natural ability to hold space for others during their most vulnerable moments.
She earned her degree in biology with a minor in anthropology from Roanoke College in 2015, where she developed a deep appreciation for global funeral rituals and the cultural meanings behind mourning practices. In 2022, she completed her mortuary science degree through the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science’s distance education program, solidifying her path in funeral service.
Today, as a licensed funeral director, embalmer, and pre-need counselor, Amanda is committed to creating meaningful, personalized services that reflect each individual’s story with compassion, dignity, and care. Every thank-you card and message from a family she’s served is a reminder of the purpose behind her work. Her calming nature and heartfelt dedication make her a trusted presence for the families she serves, and a valued member of the Colonial Funeral Home family.
